Valentine's Day

Hi there.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I am at work, with not much to do. Well, there is stuff to do, but I am waiting for the IT department to set me up on the database here that I have to use to do the work. Hmmm...

Anyway, I shall fill you in on my weekend. Friday night was quiet. I spent some time at the internet cafe, and joined in a chat that happens between my mum, uncle, and two of my late grandfathers cousins. It is a great way for them all to keep in touch, and I like being able to join in. I think it is fantastic that four people (or five when I am there) can have a conversation from 4 different parts of the globe. Ain't technology wonderful??

Saturday. We decided to go to a suburb called Golders Green. It is about an hour away on the bus, but it's only one bus, which is handy! It is a Jewish area, so I wanted to check it out. However, I knew that many of the shops would not be open. But I wanted to check it out anyway! There is a Bagel Bakery (yum!!!), and many kosher restaurants. I am not kosher, but it is handy to know! :-) From there we walked to the next suburb in the rain (and snow briefly!!) to try and find the Hungarian Food Centre. I was not happy when I found out that the business no longer exists!! Oh well, no Hungarian goodies for me then! We caught the bus from there to Regent Street. It was an old red bus too, the ones where you can hang off the back if you want (trying not to fall off into London traffic!). We walked to Piccadilly Circus, and then to the London Troccadero, which is an entertainment centre on steroids. They have arcade games, cinemas, bowling, that kind of thing. We decided to go bowling. It was a lot of fun. I lost, but I enjoy ten pin bowling. They would only let us have one game, to keep people moving through.

After bowling we wandered through the centre looking at what was on offer. There were heaps of arcade games. I am glad we were broke at the time, as some of them looked quite good really. From there we headed over to the theatre. We saw a play called "A life in the theatre", with Joshua Jackson and the guy from Star Trek, I have forgotten his name. I got to see Joshua in his underwear, which not many people get to do. It was an excellent play. There was no leg room in the theatre - I am sure when they built the theatre, the people were much shorter than me!!! I thoroughly enjoyed the play. It had just the two actors, so it was quite intense. I think there were about 40 scenes in the hour and a half (no interval). A great Valentine's Day present though. :-)

Sunday. It was Scott's turn to clean the house. We also went out to the huge supermarket near us to get food, and stuff for the house. We were having dramas with the kitty. Let me explain. We have a house kitty, and it covers items such as toilet paper, coffee, sugar, cleaning products, etc. It is 5 pounds per month per person. Not a big deal. But for some reason there are some in the house who are still months behind. And it's not fair on the others in the house. One of the Poles in our house (as in from Poland) is not working at the moment. Fine, I understand that, as I have been there myself. She is two months behind in the kitty payments. She sits around the house all day, expecting the jobs to come to her. She drinks 15 cups of tea per day with tonnes of sugar in each cup. So, of course, she used up all of the sugar. Princess Kamilla, as some call her, is so lazy that she did not go buy any. Even after many hints to her. Personally, I think that if you don't pay the kitty, you should not use the stuff it pays for.

Sunday afternoon I had my course at the British Museum. It is going well, and I am enjoying it a great deal. I came home from there to our party at our house. It was supposed to be a time to get to know our new flat mate Alana. Well, she didn't bother to turn up. Nice one. We all have issues with her at the moment, and I am not sure if she knows about them. Ah well! The party went well. Everybody did a dish. I did pasta with black oilve pesto. I had found a jar of it a while ago in Sainsbury's and I thought it would be perfect for the party. It was yummy, and everybody liked it which was great. There was a potato dish, a salad with chicken, corn and pineapple, and yummy desserts. A bit light on the vegies, but we have decided to do it on a regular basis, so next time will be a healthy one apparently!

And today, I am at work. Not much to do, but the people are nice. I am getting paid. It was really cold in the office today. It was icy walking to the tube this morning too. And the icy wind that was blowing didn't help either!!

Ciao!
