Less than a week to go...

It is Wednesday evening, and in a week, I will be in Australia.

I am slowly getting stressed out. This of course, I figure, is a natural reaction. I am seriously not looking forward to the flight. 24 hours of sheer boredom. I really hope I can knit on the flight. I have a pair of plastic kids knitting needles that may get though security. If not, I taught myself to finger knit, so I can make something... And I have a good book to read, and there is always sleeping, right? :-)

We went to see David Strassman last night. Scott had seen him for his 18th birthday, so when he saw the show advertised he snapped up some tickets for us. It was a great night. I laughted til I had tears in my eyes. For those of you who don't know, Strassman is a ventriloquist. He had two dummies with him I remembered from his tv show in Australia - Ted E. Bear and Chuck Wood. He also introduced some new ones.

It is two weeks to the day that I will be landing in Australia. Scary thought but I am getting more and more excited about going home. I hope will be able to catch up with everybody.

Scott's new job is going well. He tells me it is much the same as his old one, but of course the people and the type of work are different. He is enjoying it which is the main thing!

Oh this has to be short, but I will update again soon. :-) Promise!!!

I have some news to share...

Scott got a new job!!

He will be working for a law firm that specialises in media law. Perfect for Scott who loves movies etc, as the department he is going to join deals with film financing. And when it is quiet around the office he gets to read movie scripts!! :-D Lucky thing.

He is really happy about the job and he is getting excited about it. He starts in a week today, as his current job let him out early.

:-D

Snow!!

Yes indeedy, we had snow. I woke up at 6am to find it snowing like mad. I even took a movie of it, but I have no idea how to put that on here. (Who else but me would film the snow out of their kitchen window at 6am I ask you???) It kept snowing until about lunch time. I requested to be on the ground floor at work so I could watch it to my hearts content. YAY!

There is something quite lovely about snow. It covers everything and I get very excited when i see it. I become very child-like in my excitement and I grin all over!!

Oh, the first picture is of our bathroom wall. Weird I know, but if you look closely we have half a man's face poking out of the mould on the wallpaper (who puts wallpaper in a bathroom I ask you...). The rest of the pics were taken on my way to work this morning and out of the kitchen window.

Photo Catch-Up

Okay. I have been meaning to post some piccies for a while now, so here they are! I am getting excited about going home. I am a bit apprehensive, but that just comes from it being sooooo long since I have been home and seen everyone.

It is supposed to snow again in London. We shall see if it does. It snowed about two weeks ago but this time they are predicting about 4 inches! According to the BBC weather website it shoul begin at 6am, and provide enough snow to shut down the transport system. But realistically, one inch or 20 inches, as soon as it snows here it is bedlam. God knows why. It snows in other countries and they continue to function quite well, so I haven't really figured out why it is such an issue here. :-)
This is an view of the city of Naples from the top of Castel St Elmo. You can see the layer of smog...

A view of Sorrento harbour.

This is Herculaneum. An original wooden window with volcanic ash still on it.

The remains of stairs in Herculaneum.

Sign in Sorrento. Needs no more introduction...

Scarey Game. Seems the object of it is to pull out the diseased teeth with tools. A bit like Operation of my childhood!

Cigarettes anyone? This is the inside of one of those skill tester machines in Naples.

This was the cat who followed us around in Herculaneum. Cute!

Sunset from the plan heading to Naples from London.

This is Dover Castle. We headed there with Lindsay on my day off. See the snow!!

I love this picture of Pompeii. It's currently my desktop picture at work. We were heading back to the entrance to go home at the end of the day. Just a random snap, but the street looks deserted and a bit eerie.

It is now february, and I have not updated this in a while. This is only quick, but I just wanted to share 2 pieces of news.

1. I will be a student as of April. I have been accepted into a Masters of Museum Studies at one of the universities here, which is also the leader in the field. Yay for being a poor student again!

2. I am going home to the Land of Oz for a visit in just over 4 weeks. I will be there for my birthday too which is a good excuse to get lots of people I haven't seen in ages together for drinks and merriment.

So there you go. I will be posting photos in the next few days of recent adventures.
